In 1988 Gonzales was awarded official Main Street Status and is recognized as a National Main Street City. To date, over $12 million dollars have been directed to economic development and restructuring of downtown through a partnership of the Gonzales Economic Development Corporation, Gonzales Main Street Program and the private sector. Opportunities for growth and development abound in downtown Gonzales.
Gonzales is also home to a well established, growing industrial park. The industrial park is currently home to companies such as Adams Extract & Spices, TXGN Short Line Rail Logistics Center, Wrangler Trucking, Tyson Foods, Texas Trampoline, and other industrial and manufacturing businesses.
